WHS – New Codes of Practice
With the introduction of the new Work Health and Safety legislation on the 1 January 2012 a revised Code of Practice has come into effect. These harmonise with the previous OH&S laws Australia wide. A code of practice applies to all businesses and persons who have a duty of care in the circumstances outlined in the code.
Detailed below is a list of the new model codes of practice, a further list identifying those that have been revoked while any remaining codes of practice will continue to be recognized under the new legislation.

- Labelling of workplace hazardous chemicals
- Preparation of safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals
- Confined spaces
- Managing noise and preventing hearing loss at work

- Work Health and Safety consultation cooperation and coordination
- How to safely remove asbestos
- How to manage and control asbestos in the workplace
The following NSW codes of practice will be revoked:
- Storage and handling of dangerous goods
- Facade retention
- Noise management
- Labelling of workplace substances
- Control of workplace hazardous substances
- Electrical practices for construction work
- Mono-strand post-tensioning of concrete buildings
- OHS consultation
- Workplace amenities
- Risk assessment
- Low voltage electrical work
- Preparation of material safety data sheets
