What do psychosocial hazards sound like at work?

One of the challenges in identifying psychosocial hazards in the workplace is that staff will talk about it in different ways.

To help you, Safe Work Australia has prepared an infographic to help you understand what to listen for. You can download the infographic here. It includes things like:

  • I’m so angry. It just wasn’t fair.
  • I’m torn. I don’t know what they want me to do.
  • Why can’t they just let me get on with my job?
  • I just don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing.
  • I can’t sleep thinking about it.
  • I feel like a failure. How am I supposed to do all this?

October is Mental Health Month in NSW and to commemorate, we suggest you download the infographic. Then place the infographic in high traffic areas around your workplace such in the kitchen, breakout area and bathrooms. Include a note instructing staff to speak to their manager or team leader if they are feeling, saying or hearing these types of statements.

If you have remote workers, you should also send an email announcement which includes the infographic and who to speak to if they need help or suspect a colleague requires assistance.

Our team is highly experienced in dealing with workplace injuries and psychosocial hazards. We are also highly skilled and experienced in eliminating many of the psychosocial hazards identified by Work Safe Australia.
